NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma Head Women’s Basketball Coach Sherri Coale and Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners’ non-conference schedule Friday.
Highlighting the non-conference schedule is the Thanksgiving trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam Tournament, a return to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a game vs. Duke, Dec. 17, the Big 12/SEC Challenge contest against Arkansas in Little Rock, Dec. 21 and five home games, including the regular-season home opener against PAC-12 member Washington, Nov. 14.
"Our young team will be challenged immediately this season as we host Washington for our opening game of the year,” stated Coale, entering her 19th year at the helm. “The entire pre-conference schedule is peppered with perennial NCAA tournament teams from Duke to Kentucky to South Florida to Arkansas. We are excited about the opportunities to grow up quickly as we prepare for the rigors of playing in the best women's basketball conference in the country."
The Sooners open with an exhibition game against Great American Conference member Southeastern Oklahoma State on Nov. 5.
OU begins the regular season at home Friday, Nov. 14 against Washington (20-14) and will then host Lamar (18-13) Tuesday, Nov. 18 and Bradley (8-22), Friday, Nov. 21. Both the Huskies and Cardinals are coming off appearances in WNIT, with Washington reaching the regional finals and Lamar bowing out in the First Round.
The Sooners then leave for the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Nov. 27-29 Paradise Jam Tournament that will be played at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas. Oklahoma will face South Florida (23-13, WNIT Semifinals) on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, Kentucky (26-9, NCAA Sweet Sixteen) Friday, Nov. 28 and Illinois (9-21) Saturday, Nov. 29.

The stretch features contests at North Texas (12-18) on Sunday, Dec. 7, at Arkansas-Little Rock (18-12) on Sunday, Dec. 14, at Duke (28-7, NCAA Second Round) on Wednesday, Dec. 17 and against Arkansas (19-11) in Little Rock for the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Sunday, Dec 21.
It will be the first time the Sooners play Duke on the Blue Devils campus. OU is familiar with Cameron Indoor Stadium though, having played there in last year’s NCAA Tournament.
The Sooners conclude non-conference play hosting Yale, Tuesday, Dec. 30. The match-up, against President Boren’s alma mater, will be the first meeting between the two schools.
Oklahoma is coming off its 15th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and returns seven letterwinners in 2014-15. The returnees are highlighted by senior Sharane Campbell-Olds and juniors Nicole Kornet and Kaylon Williams. Campbell-Olds is the Sooners leading returning scorer (12.6 ppg) and rebounder (5.4 rpg), while Kornet is the team’s leading returning 3-point shooter, having drained 36 as a sophomore. Williams chipped in 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 2013-14.
