NORMAN, Okla. -- The Big 12 Conference has announced its eight-game men's basketball schedule for ESPN's Big Monday platform for the 2015 season, and Oklahoma will make at least three appearances.
The Sooners will play the league's first two Big Monday games on the road: at Texas Jan. 5 (ESPN or ESPN2) and at Kansas Jan. 19 (ESPN). OU will host Iowa State on Feb. 9 (ESPN). All three games will start at 8 p.m. CT.
The final Big Monday game on March 2 will feature a unique twist this year, as ESPN will have a "flex pick" between Oklahoma at Iowa State and Baylor at Texas. The network and the Big 12 will determine in the weeks leading up to the game which contest will be part of the Big Monday schedule (8 p.m. CT), with the other game slated for 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
No Big Monday game will be played Jan. 12 as ESPN airs the College Football Playoff title game.
The last time OU played at least three ESPN Big Monday games was during the 2009-10 season. The last time it played four or more Big Monday games was during the 2004-05 campaign (played five) when it shared the league title with Kansas.
Last year the Sooners went 1-1 in Big Monday games, beating No. 8 Oklahoma State 88-76 on Jan. 27 in Norman and losing 83-75 at No. 5 Kansas on Feb. 24.
The full 2015 composite Big 12 schedule will be released in the very near future.
The Big 12 sent a nation's-best seven teams to the NCAA Tournament a year ago and was rated as the No. 1 conference in the country in the RPI during the regular season. Seven teams were nationally ranked a year ago (more than any conference), with seven rated in the various early national top 25 polls that have already been released for the 2014-15 campaign.
