NORMAN, Okla. -- Once a week for the next six weeks, will introduce a new member of the OU men's basketball team. First up is freshman Khadeem Lattin, a 6-9, 200-pound forward from Houston, Texas.

Lattin has impressive bloodlines and an interesting playing background. The son of three-time WNBA champion Monica Lamb, he is also the grandson of David "Big Daddy" Lattin, a starter on Texas Western's famed 1966 team that beat Kentucky in the NCAA championship game (the team was portrayed in the 2006 movie "Glory Road").

Lattin played his junior and senior years of high school for the Redemption Christian Home School Academy team in Houston. Last year the all-state selection averaged 15.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots per game while shooting 62.0 percent from the field.

He spent his sophomore year and part of his freshman year attending Canarias Academy in the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain, a school known for producing quality basketball players.

Rated as the nation's No. 72 recruit by 247Sports, Lattin says the adaptation to college-level workouts has been a challenge but that he's making definite progress and has bonded quickly with his new teammates.

"We've become brothers already," he said. "That's really why I committed. It's a brotherhood at OU."
