NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma outfielder Hunter Haley (Nacogdoches, Texas) will be one of eight players who will compete in the 2014 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby on Thursday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. The fifth annual event, which was held in front of 23,000 fans last year, will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Haley hit .294 in 2014 and finished second on the team in homers with six. He is currently playing his summer ball with the Bravos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League. Haley is currently hitting .299 for the Bombers and leads the team in triples (3) and stolen bases (12). Haley is also second on the team in runs (15) and RBI (9). Texas Collegiate League play continues through August, 8.

The College Home Run Derby includes three rounds of play: Round 1 featuring all contestants, Round 2 featuring the hitters with the top four scores after Round 1, and Round 3 featuring the top two sluggers after Round 2. In each round, contestants will attempt to hit as many home runs as they can before logging 10 outs, or hits that do not result in a home run. Balls reaching the warning track will not count as an out, giving players another opportunity at bat. Additionally, following the tenth and final out of each at bat, contestants will have an opportunity to hit a home run with the ‘Bonus Ball.’ If successful, the special ball will tack two additional home runs onto the contestant’s total score.

Tickets for the 2014 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby are $8 for children and $12 for adults. Ticket may be purchased in-person from the CenturyLink Center arena box offices, by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000, or online at www.collegehomerunderby.com.
