Kendric Maple's name has become associated with excellence in the University of Oklahoma wrestling program.
The former OU student-athlete succeeded on the mat and in the classroom, serving as an example for others in the program. Most recently, he was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Division I At-Large Team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Maple was a first-team selection and was also placed on the Capital One All-District At-Large Team for District 7 last month.
In addition this year, he was awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and the Big 12 Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship. He was also named to the annual National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I All-Academic Team and was Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Maple finished his OU wrestling career as a three-time All-American and a 2013 NCAA individual champion for the Sooners. He placed eighth at the 2014 NCAA Championships and is currently in pursuit of his Master's in Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma. In his master's program, Maple holds a 4.0 GPA.
After Maple finishes his second degree, he hopes to become a college wrestling coach or go back to school for physical therapy.

The at-large team for the Capital One Academic All-America program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; and bowling, rowing and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
