OU vs. Texas Tech
Postgame Quotes
May 2, 2014

Head coach Patty Gasso:

On her team's performance:
"I thought Kelsey [Stevens] was on her game tonight. Texas Tech has a potent offense. If you look at their numbers you'll see that they've got power, they've got speed, they've got good averages. We really executed the game-plan very well. We just never felt much of a threat, and for her to do that against a team like that is very tough to do, so I thought she did very well.

"I thought offensively we could have been a little bit more aggressive. We were really trying to figure out their change of speeds, but we got some timely hitting. I thought Georgia [Casey]'s at-bat was huge to give us a little bit of insurance. It was good to see Lauren [Chamberlain] back in her ways. Brittany Williams is just swinging such a hot bat right now, so throughout the lineup, still feeling really good. [Destinee] Martinez is still clutching up and giving us RBIs when we need them, so just another very complete game. The defense played well and got big outs, so just thought it was a pretty clean game."

On the status of Kady Self after her first-inning injury:
"I don't know. We're going to get her tested tomorrow with an MRI to see where we're at, but it's pretty sore right now--the knee."

On Lauren Chamberlain's home run:
"It's the good old days. She just looked really comfortable, and as we're going along, I feel her really getting her timing and her swing back, so it's not too long from now that I think she's going to feel really comfortable with what she's doing. And for her to stay in the game defensively, and to tell me she's okay to do that, is a big step for her."

Sophomore Pitcher Kelsey Stevens:

On her outing:
"I think everything was just kind of working. The changeup was really good tonight, and I kind of just got ahead of batters."

On how a good outing can impact the rest of a weekend:
"I mean, I think it's just really good for momentum, both for the rest of the team and for me. Just showing that I can put hitters down and get them out of there."

On whether the Sooners are scoreboard watching:
"I think we're just more important about winning our own games and controlling what we can control."

On her focus for the rest of the weekend:
"I think just getting stronger. There are some things we can still work on like two-strike approach and just different things, so just getting better as a team."
