NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma senior Chirapat Jao-Javanil was named the Big 12 Women's Golfer of the Month for April, the conference announced Wednesday.
Jao-Javanil led the Sooners at the Big 12 Championship this past weekend, winning the individual title with a three-round 209 (-7). Her performance fell one stroke shy of the event record. The victory was the sixth of her career, a school record.
The Hua-Hin, Thailand, native registered 15 birdies at the championship and played 46 of 54 holes at par or better. Jao-Javanil recorded a 72.7 stroke average in April and claimed OU's third Big 12 Golfer-of-the-Month Award this season (freshman Alexandra Kaui earned the honor for October and February).
Jao-Javanil and the Sooners will return to the course May 8-10 when they compete in the 24-team NCAA West Regional in Cle Elum, Wash. OU will be the No. 3 seed.
