Oklahoma vs. UAB
Postgame Quotes

Head Coach Patty Gasso:

On her impression of the two games:
“In both games I don’t think we started very strong. What I love about this team is that when you score on them, they answer. That is very difficult to do, and they do it almost every time. And that is to completely take the game back in their hands, and I love that about this team. I think our pitching staff was a little bit labored at times, but it’s almost expected this time of year, especially because this is probably the most heat we’ve played in in awhile. You could feel that both teams were starting to melt a little bit as the second game was going along, but we had some big heroes and just the fact that Lauren [Chamberlain] is back in the lineup just really feels good.

“I had her in the five spot and I almost couldn’t stand watching her bat that low, to where I’m like, 'I’ve got to get her back to the leadoff and give her as many at bats as she can get.' Because she—even with the long layoff and not having seen a lot of live pitching, except maybe yesterday at practice, she still almost looks like she hasn’t missed a beat. We’ve got to just keep utilizing her the way we can.”

On Chamberlain’s place in the batting order:
“She’ll always be near the top. If it’s not one or two, it wouldn’t be lower than three, so you’ll see her always in that one, two or three spot.”

Junior Lauren Chamberlain:

On how her back feels after the games:
“Really good right now. Super strong. I felt good all day even though it was a doubleheader. I felt like I was staying upbeat and I felt strong in my core. Everything was working. I had good balance today.”

On being back in the lineup:
“It was hard for me to watch my team, but I think it gave me a new appreciation of my teammates and the little things that are going on around me while I wasn’t playing. When I finally got back on the field they were super supportive of what I was trying to do. It was really comfortable and I didn’t have a lot of stress.”
