NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma baseball team ends a string of 12 home games over its last 13 with a non-conference tilt against Texas-Arlington at L. Dale Mitchell Park at 6:00 pm on Tuesday night. Admission to the game is free.
Oklahoma improved to 25-16 overall and 5-7 in the Big 12. The Sooners have three hitters above .300 in the lineup, led by junior Mac James at .374 with 32 RBI and 27 runs. Freshman third baseman Sheldon Neuse is second at .307 with a team-high 26 extra-base hits to go with 32 runs and 31 RBI. Sophomore left fielder Hunter Haley is hitting .306 and snapped a 0-for-18 stretch with his team-leading sixth home run on Saturday. He has scored a team-high 37 runs and driven in 27.

Veteran OU broadcaster Toby Rowland will handle all of the play-by-play on KREF Sports Talk 1400 AM and 98.5 FM. Each game will be broadcast on the FOX family of networks, including Saturday’s game on FOX College Sports-Central with Brett Dolan (p-b-p) and OU alum George Frazier (color) on the call.
2nd - Midweek Recap
Oklahoma scored twice in the eighth and ninth innings, but ultimately fell short against Texas-Arlington, 6-5, at home on Tuesday night. The Sooners had the potential game-tying and winning runs on base when the game ended. Sophomore center fielder Craig Aikin went 2-for-3 with a walk a matched his career-high with three runs scored. Neuse was just 1-for-5 at the plate, but drove in both runs in the bottom of the ninth after pitching a perfect top of the ninth in his fifth pitching appearance of the season.
3rd - Scouting the Red Raiders
Texas Tech is rolling along at 32-13 overall, 8-7 in the league and at No. 21 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll. xxx Eric Gutierrez is batting a team-high .329 with seven home runs, 37 RBI amd 36 runs. xxx Adam Kirsch is hitting .298 with six homer, 35 RBI and 27 runs. Right-hander Ryan Moseley (1-1) is scheduled to make his second start of the year on Friday night. He owns a 2.30 ERA in 31.1 innings of work. Left-handers Chris Sadberry (3-1) and Dylan Dusek (5-0) round out the rotation. Sadberry holds a 2.47 ERA, while Dusek leads the team at 2.31.
4th - All-Time vs. Tech
Oklahoma leads the all-time series with Texas Tech, 48-28-1, dating back to a 3-0 win for the Sooners in 1976. Oklahoma has won five of the last six and nine of the last 11 match-ups, including three wins in four tries in 2013.
5th - Last Time They Met
Dillon Overton earned the win in five innings of work, while striking out five and Max White went 3-for-5 at the plate as OU shutout TTU, 8-0, in the second game of pool play at the 2013 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City. The Sooners held a narrow 1-0 lead after seven innings before pouring in two in the eighth and five in the ninth as they totaled 13 hits on the day to the Red Raiders’ four. Matt Oberste and Kolbey Carpenter each drove in two runs.
6th - Back-To-Back Jacks
Last Saturday, James and Haley hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first to give OU and early 3-0 lead. It marked the second set of back-to-back home runs for the Sooners on the season. Neuse and Anthony Hermelyn previously did so against Seton Hall (2/15/14).
7th - #YardWork
Oklahoma has hit 23 home runs in 42 games, including 19 in the friendly confines of L. Dale Mitchell Park. Haley has hit a team-high six, while James and Neuse have added five and four, respectively. Each home run hit this season by Haley and Neuse have come in home games.
8th - Playing ‘em Close
Oklahoma is 6-2 in one-run games this season. The Sooners lost their first one-run game of the year in a walk-off at Kansas (3/30/14). Three of Oklahoma’s one-run wins have come in extra innings. In two-run games, OU is 5-6.
