NORMAN, Okla.—The No. 18 Oklahoma women’s tennis team heads to Texas for a two-match weekend against the No. 22 Texas Longhorns and No. 17 Baylor Bears.

Senior Whitney Ritchie leads the team as the only ranked singles player. Coming in at No. 86, Ritchie jumped 20 spots after defeating No. 56 Petra Niedermayerova of Kansas State. Ritchie is currently 5-0 in Big 12 play this year.

Ritchie and doubles partner Mia Lancaster currently sit at No. 70 in the ITA doubles rankings. The duo leads the team in doubles with a 12-4 record and a 5-1 record in the Big 12.

The Sooners (15-3, 5-1) currently hold a five-match win streak in Big 12 play. Oklahoma has shut out their last three Big 12 opponents and sits in third place in the conference standings. The team holds the league’s best overall win percentage at .833.

The Longhorns and Bears will be the 15th and 16th ranked teams that OU will face this year. Against ranked teams, the Sooners are 11-3 with the only losses coming to Alabama and Big 12 rivals Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. This will be the seventh road trip for the Sooners, who hold a 10-2 record away from home.

Texas (10-9, 5-1) is also riding a five-match win streak going into Friday’s match. Coming off a 6-1 win over Kansas last weekend, Texas sits tied for third with the Sooners. The Longhorns boast three ranked players as well as one ranked doubles pair.

Baylor (18-6, 6-0) sits atop the Big 12 standings with Bedlam rival Oklahoma State. Baylor will take on Oklahoma State Friday, April 11, before their match with the Sooners. The Bears lead the Big 12 with four ranked players and one ranked duo in doubles.

Oklahoma will face Texas Friday, April 11, at 6 p.m. on the Longhorn Network. The team will then travel to Waco to face the Bears on Sunday, April 13, at 1 p.m.
