Stevens has had a hand in all nine OU shutouts this season, as Tuesday was her fifth combined to go with four solo. She allowed six hits but no runs or walks and struck out three to move to 21-5. Her earned run average stands at 2.00 on the season, her lowest mark since it was 1.62 on Feb. 9.

NORMAN, Okla. – No. 19/13 Oklahoma (29-8) extended its season-best win streak to 11 games and won its 29th straight against Wichita State (22-16) behind a 3-0 combined shutout from sophomore Kelsey Stevens and junior Shelby Pendley in game one of a doubleheader Tuesday.

A three-run third inning proved to be the difference for the Sooners, whose winning streak over the Shockers is their longest active streak against another opponent.

The shutout was the ninth thrown by the Sooners this year and was the team’s sixth in the past eight games.

Stevens got the start and pitched the first 5.0 innings to earn her 21st win of the season. She allowed six hits but no runs or walks to go with her three strikeouts. It was her third straight scoreless appearance, and she’s allowed just two earned run in her last 32.1 innings of work for a 0.43 earned run average in that span.

After allowing three runs in 6.0 innings at Louisiana-Lafayette on March 15, Stevens’ ERA stood at 2.61, but now she has trimmed that down to a 2.00 mark by allowing just four runs in her past 45.0 innings over 11 appearances.

Coming on in relief, Pendley picked up her third save of the season. In 2.0 innings of work, she gave up no hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

After two scoreless innings, the Sooners got all their runs in a three-run third.

Sophomore Kady Self led off with a double that just landed fair down the right field line to extend her career-best hitting streak to eight games. Pendley followed by sending a grounder off Wichita State starter Sloan Anderson. Self took third on the play, and Pendley moved herself into scoring position next with a stolen base.

Senior Brittany Williams then put OU on top as she laced a double into the gap in left center to score two. After sophomore Whitney Ellis reached on an error and fellow sophomore Leslie Miller walked, senior Destinee Martinez drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-0.

Wichita State had its chances against Stevens and Pendley, putting runners on in every inning. The Sooners always found a way to thwart the scorings chances, though.

The Shockers got a runner to third with one out in the second, but Stevens recorded a strikeout and then induced a popup to keep the game at 0-0.

One inning later, WSU had a runner on third with two outs but Pendley fielded a grounder and third and threw on to first to end the inning.

Runners were on the corners once again for the Shockers in the fifth, but a two-out grounder was handled by junior Georgia Casey at second base.
