NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma men's gymnastics freshman Colin Van Wicklen claimed his second career Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week award after his performance at Ohio State.
Van Wicklen scored 15.000 or higher on all three of his events last Saturday in Columbus, Ohio, against the No. 4 Buckeyes, leading OU to a 444.300 team score. The freshman crushed his career-high on high bar with a 15.200 routine, good for third overall, while his 15.300 on vault tied a career-high and was the second-best score of the day. Van Wicklen added a 15.000 on floor.
The award is the second for the freshman this season who is currently ranked No. 3 on vault and No. 7 on floor among all NCAA gymnasts.
Van Wicklen and the Sooners will next compete in the MPSF Championships next Saturday, March 29, at 4 p.m. in Norman at the McCasland Field House.
