Pendley set a school record with 10 RBI and was a perfect 4-4 at the plate with two doubles and scored four runs in OU's dominating win. Pendley hit two doubles and two home runs, one of which was her third career grand slam.

NORMAN, Okla. – Multiple school records were broken or tied as No. 20/13 Oklahoma (12-5) dominated Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 35-1, in five innings in game two of a doubleheader Friday.

After beating the Golden Lions (1-8) in game one, 10-0, the Sooners scored a school-record 35 runs en route to the largest margin of victory in school history. The previous bests came last year in a 24-1 victory over Iowa State on April 26.

OU scored nine runs in both the first and second innings and then exploded for 17 more runs in the fourth. The 35 runs tied for the seventh-most in NCAA Division I history, and it’s the highest run total for a DI team since College of Charleston scored 42 runs against Savannah State on Feb. 11, 2004.

Oklahoma tied a school record by pounding out 24 hits and matched another record with six doubles. The team also drew 14 walks, which was two short of another school record.

Of the 18 players on OU’s roster, 16 got into the game. Thirteen different Sooners scored a run, including 12 that scored at least two runs. Twelve players collected a hit, including four that got at least three hits. In addition, 11 different Sooners drove in a run and eight drew at least one walk.

“I got an opportunity for a lot of athletes who need at-bats to get in and get some,” OU head coach Patty Gasso said after the game. “It was good. A kid like Javen Henson, who will be in this lineup and hasn’t had a ton of at-bats, made the most of hers tonight. I think if we can get anything out of this it is just confidence.”

The offensive catalyst was junior Shelby Pendley who was a perfect 4-4 at the plate, recording two doubles and two home runs, one of which was a grand slam. She set the OU single-game record with 10 RBI, two better than the previous mark which had been done twice, most recently by Amber Flores against UAB on Feb. 6, 2009.

Henson also had an impressive day by going 3-4 with three runs scored and a career-high six RBI. She hit a sacrifice fly and an RBI single in the second inning, and then hit a three-run homer and another RBI single in the fourth.

Junior Lauren Chamberlain matched a school record by scoring five runs in the game, joining Teresa Pool who did it against Southwest Missouri Baptist on April 5, 1977. Chamberlain was 2-3 at the plate, drove in three runs and walked four times.

In addition to the hits and walks, the Sooners took advantage of four errors by the Golden Lions. Of the team’s 35 runs, 18 were recorded as unearned.

The win went to sophomore Taylor Dewbery who struck out one and allowed two hits, one of which was a solo home run, in 1.2 innings of work. She’s now 2-0 on the year.

Oklahoma closes out play this weekend with a doubleheader against No. 16/15 Nebraska on Saturday. First pitch of game one is set for noon at Marita Hynes Field.
