NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma senior Hilary Krein and the Oklahoma men’s cross country team were honored on Friday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) for academic achievement.

Krein was named to the association’s All-Academic team while the men’s cross country team received All-Academic team honors.

A senior from Eureka, S.D., Krein majors in accounting and finished her senior season with a 3.77 GPA. She was also named to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country team.

The award honors student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.25 GPA and finish among the top 15 of the field at their respective NCAA Regional meet.

Krein finished 13th at the Midwest Regional Championships with a time of 20:47.7.

The OU men received the accolade for boasting a team GPA of 3.03. To qualify for team honors, the program must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater as well as start five runners at respective NCAA Regional meet.

This marks the fifth consecutive year the men's cross country team has earned the award.

Patrick Gomez (film and video studies), Brandon Doughty (multidisciplinary studies), Dan Schubert (health and exercise science) and Eric Graf (health and exercise science) all earned Academic All-Big 12 honors earlier this year for their achievements.
