NEW YORK CITY - Competing in the heart of New York City, it was day two for the Sooners at one of the biggest indoor track and field meets in the country. Sprinter Waymon Storey Jr. came up big for the Sooners on Saturday, finishing first in the men’s 200-meter championship dash with a time of 21.27 to help lead the men’s team to a fourth place finish out of 110 teams.

Oklahoma had another top finisher in the 400-meter dash as Ethan Baker took second with a time of 47.92.

Senior Molly Ferguson Williams had a career day in the women’s championship 3,000-meter dash, finishing with a personal-best time of 9:37.72. The mark, nearly 10 seconds better than her previous PR, was good enough for a fourth-place finish in the event and ranks sixth in indoor program history on the all-time OU career list.

OU continued to find success on the track with freshman Kelsey McKee finishing sixth out of 55 runners in the women’s collegiate mile run. McKee’s time of 4:57.53 is nearly an eight-second improvement from her previous best time. Fellow distance runner Jacob Burcham finished second in the men’s mile run with a time of 4:09.63.

Oklahoma also had a record-setting performance from freshman Hayden McClain who, in his first collegiate event, moved into ninth all-time in program history for his 50-05.25 effort in the triple jump competition, a mark that resulted in a fifth-place finish in the event.

Next up for the Sooners is the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15., in College Station, Texas.
