NORMAN, Okla. -- There has been no stopping the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team in 2014.

The Sooners are the top-ranked team in the country and have been since the season began a month ago at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. OU crushed the event, scoring a 443.150 and defeating the next closest team by almost 20 points - a huge margin in gymnastics.

Oklahoma has scored above a 440.000 two more meets since the season opener, with wins of 28, 4, and 14 points in its last three meets. The Sooners currently have a 442.717 team average score, which is currently four points more than defending national champion Michigan in second.

But the Sooners will face their toughest opponent of the year on Saturday when they host No. 5 Stanford at 5 p.m. CT in McCasland Field House. The Cardinal defeated California twice to open the season before most recently taking third against Michigan and Cal after an injury to freshman Akash Modi led to a rough final rotation.

Modi, a current member of the USA Senior National Team, has already been awarded two national gymnast of the week awards this season and is a strong all-arounder across all six events.

Oklahoma, ranked first or second as a team in five of six events, has proven again to be a deep squad. Junior Alec Robin is tied with Modi for No. 1 on floor in the country while sophomore Kanji Oyama ranks fourth and junior Dylan Akers ranks sixth.

On pommel horse, OU takes two of the top three spots with junior Sergey Resnick second and senior Raymond White third. Defending national champion Michael Squires is ranked second on still rings while on vault the Sooners are led by freshman Colin Van Wicklen who comes in at fourth.

OU has been very solid on parallel bars this year and claims three of the top four individual spots with junior Michael Reid, freshman Allan Bower and senior Presten Ellsworth filling in. Junior Danny Berardini in fifth and junior William Clement in sixth are the Sooner leaders on high bar, while Berardini ranks third in the country in the all-around with an average of 84.883.

For fans who can't make it to the meet, the contest will be televised live on FOX Sports Oklahoma and FOX College Sports Pacific.

OU maintained its top ranking after a win against No. 10 Iowa in a dominating performance last week at home. The Sooners scored a season high of 444.300, topping the Hawkeyes' 430.600 score.
