Head Coach Jim VanHootegem and the University of Oklahoma track and field coaching staff will host a series of coaches’ education sessions in the next few months. The clinicians include three coaches who have worked with elite athletes on the collegiate and Olympic levels.
Sessions will be held on Feb. 12, March 5 and April 2. All sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a meal and will run until 9 p.m. Individual sessions are $20 each with a rate of $50 for all three. All sessions will be held at Headington Hall, the newest residential facility on the Norman campus.
The clinicians include Dan Pfaff, who has worked with nine Olympic medalists and a total of 49 Olympians; Irving “Boo” Schexnayder, the director of the US Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association’s Track and Field Academy; and Derek Evely, who has coached three World Junior medalists and Olympic participants.
Sessions will cover “Conditioning for Young Athletes: A New Perspective, Feb. 12; Speed and Circuit Training for Injury Prevention, March 5; and “Planning During the Competitive Season,” April 2. A PDF with more complete information is available.
