NORMAN, Okla. -- Behind a raucous crowd at McCasland Field House, the No. 1 Oklahoma men's gymnastics team rolled to a 440.700 to 412.200 win over No. 6 Air Force in the Sooners' home opener on Saturday.

OU swept the team and individual event titles, showing why the Sooners are the top-ranked team in the nation.

"I feel very positive about what the team's potential is," said OU head coach Mark Williams. "Scoring a 440 tonight and a 443 last week are higher scores than a lot of last season. I really do think we're going to make a run at a national championship this year."

Junior Kanji Oyama took the all-around title with a score of 88.550 highlighted by a 15.150 on floor.

OU improved upon its team score on pommel and vault, recording identical 74.100 totals on each event. Junior All-American Michael Reid notched a team-high 15.250 on pommel, and junior Sergery Resnick and senior Raymond White received some of the biggest cheers of the night, finishing with scores of 15.100 and 15.000, respectively.

"Being at home is always great, having the fans behind you and knowing the equipment is what you've been training on," Williams said. "It's fun to perform for a home audience."

On vault, freshman Colin Van Wicklen lit up the scoreboard in his first home meet as a Sooner, earning the event title with a score of 15.050.

The Sooners also totaled a 74.100 on rings where once again they were led by junior national champion Michael Squires with a 15.600.

The team's best event of the night proved to be floor, recording a 74.350. Junior Alec Robin put up a 15.200 and Oyama had a 15.150.

On parallel bars, all six Sooners finished in the top six spots on the leaderboard. Senior Presten Ellsworth and Oyama tied with the top individual routines at 14.800 while freshman Allan Bower totaled a 14.750.

OU closed out on high bar, with Ethan Jose bouncing back from last weekend to lead the night with a score of 14.900.

"The first four events were great," Williams said. "Everyone was hitting well and we put up big scores. It went away a little bit on parallel bars and high bar; we need a bit more conditioning I think. But overall we're looking good - our lines were good and our performances were good."

The Sooners will next travel to Minneapolis to play at Minnesota in a tri-meet with Illinois-Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. CT.
