Schedule 2013-14 Sooner Wrestling Schedule

NORMAN, Okla. -- In a battle of top-10 teams, the fourth-ranked Oklahoma wrestling team (7-0 overall, 2-0 Big 12) welcomes the No. 9 Northern Iowa Panthers (5-0 overall, 2-0 in MAC) to the McCasland Field House for a 2 p.m. CT dual on Sunday, Jan. 19.

Ranked Competitors
The Sooners, who are coming off of a 27-11 win at conference foe Iowa State on Sunday, Jan. 12, enter the dual with eight wrestlers ranked in the top 20, according to InterMat's latest poll.

OU's ranked wrestlers include Jarrod Patterson (No. 5 at 125 pounds), Cody Brewer (No. 8 at 133 pounds), Nick Lester (No. 10 at 141 pounds), Kendric Maple (No. 3 at 149 pounds), Justin DeAngelis (No. 19 at 157 pounds), Andrew Howe (No. 1 at 174 pounds), Travis Rutt (No. 3 at 197 pounds) and Ross Larson (No. 18 in heavyweight).

UNI has five competitors in the poll, including Dylan Peters (No. 7 at 125 pounds), Joe Colon (No. 1 at 133 pounds), Joey Lazor (No. 15 at 141 pounds), Cooper Moore (No. 11 at 165 pounds) and Ryan Loder (No. 5 at 184 pounds).

OU vs. Northern Iowa Series
Sunday's dual marks the 14th meeting between the Sooners and Panthers. OU leads the overall series 7-6, but Northern Iowa won last season's contest on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, by a score of 18-15 inside the West Gym in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Matchup to Watch
At 133 pounds, which is one of three bouts Sunday that features two ranked opponents, OU redshirt sophomore and eighth-ranked Cody Brewer will look to upset No. 1 Joe Colon, a senior for UNI. Brewer, who currently leads NCAA Division I with nine technical falls on the season, holds a 14-2 record overall and a 6-1 mark in dual competition. Colon is 19-1 overall and 3-0 in duals.

Sunday's dual features a variety of promotions, including Military Appreciation Day ($4 admission for military with valid I.D.); Boy and Girl Scouts Day (scout patches); Youth Day; Youth Wrestling Team Day; face painting, balloon artist and sign making for kids; free small popcorn and drink for first 250 fans; free stadium cups for first 250 fans; and an autograph session.

The Sooners travel to Corvallis, Ore., to take on No. 20 Oregon State at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 25. OU's final home dual is slated for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, when the Sooners will face No. 7 Missouri inside McCasland Field House.
