On the challenge of Alabama:
“Being a competitor and going up against a team like this is going to be a challenge, but it’s going to be a lot of fun, as well. We’re pretty anxious and we’re just excited to get out there and play.”

On if it matters to the defense who is playing quarterback for the Sooners:
“Not at all. Whoever is in there, we have a full level of confidence in them that they’ll go out there and compete as hard as they can. Our job as a defense is to go out there and cover up some of the mistakes that go on and go out there and save them some time. We’re not necessarily worried about who is in at quarterback. We know that Coach will choose the best.”

On people outside the program telling them they can’t beat Alabama:
“It builds hunger. We’ve been going through that a lot this year. A lot of the teams we’ve played we’ve been ruled out of not winning. With Oklahoma State I’m pretty positive that everybody picked us to lose that game. We don’t really get affected by that. I think we enjoy that a little bit, being the underdog and having us against everybody else. I know that I do, personally, and I know that a lot of my brothers do, as well. We’re just going to go out there and compete.”

On Alabama’s offense:
“They are a very efficient team. They know how to take care of the ball. AJ McCarron does a great job of taking care of the ball and making smart decisions. He has a lot of receivers out there that can make a lot of plays for him, and they can bail him out at times. Overall, they’re a great team, and everybody knows that. We’ve got to be great at what we do and stay disciplined.”

On if he feels there is something at stake for the Big 12 in this game:
“Not really. As far as us, our big thing is about winning ball games. No matter who we play we have to win the ball game. That’s what we’re trying to do.”

On the linebackers:
“They’ve been huge for us. They’ve made a lot of plays. They’re some of the most productive players on our team this year. Those guys have definitely stepped up this year. Last year it was kind of getting adjusted to the schemes and getting adjusted to Mike Stoops, so I’ve always had a feeling about those guys. We knew they would have a big year this year just going into spring and summer camp. You can just see the progression they’ve had as players. Dominique Alexander and Jordan (Evans), those young guys, they’ve really just come in and run the defense.”

On finishing ball games this year:
“I feel like these guys, we’re not quitting. That was our big thing this summer and all season was not quitting and being able to play all four quarters. We’ve been a great team in the fourth quarter, and that kind of goes along with our preparation. All year, from last year, we wanted to finish ball games in the second half and the fourth quarter. With that being said, I think that’s allowed us to play hard throughout the whole game. I feel like that’s winning us ball games that at the end of the game, we’re still persevering.”
