November 08, 2013

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma center Gabe Ikard and fullback Trey Millard are Capitol One Academic All-District honorees as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Ikard and Millard have both served as team captains for the Sooners the past two seasons.

Ikard, a native of Oklahoma City, has started in 47 games in his career, including every game this season. He was recently named one of 16 recipients of the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award and is a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy. Ikard was also named a midseason All-American by USA Today, Sports Illustrated and CBSSports.com. After graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA in multidisciplinary studies in May, Ikard is currently pursuing a second undergraduate degree at OU.

He is also one of 10 NCAA FBS student-athletes selected as finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate football. Fans can vote online at www.SeniorClassAward.com through Dec. 16.

Millard, a native of Columbia, Mo., played in 48 career games with 18 starts in his career before suffering a season-ending ACL injury this season against Texas Tech. A 2012 All-Big 12 First Team honoree, Millard ranks third in OU history for receptions by a running back with 70 career catches. He owns 677 career receiving yards with seven touchdowns, as well as 98 carries for 538 yards and six touchdowns. Millard is majoring in psychology and has a 3.69 GPA.

In May, both Millard and Ikard studied “Sport and Culture in Ireland” during a two-week study abroad trip to Ireland and then returned home to Oklahoma to assist in disaster relief efforts following a series of devastating tornadoes in the state.

Ikard and Millard both advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot that will be selected later this month.
