NORMAN, Okla.—Three Sooners advanced to the second round in the men’s singles draw at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in New York.
Guillermo Alcorta captured a straight set victory over USC’s Yannick Hanfmann 6-1, 6-4 Thursday. The senior faces Georgia’s Nathan Pasha at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Axel Alvarez defeated Texas’ George Goldhoff 7-5, 6-1 in the first round. The Spaniard takes on Baylor’s Julian Lenz in his next match.
After a lengthy first match, Andrew Harris disposed of Embry-Riddle’s Deni Zmak 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 7-5. Harris matches up against Notre Dame’s Greg Andrews Friday.
The final Sooner in the tournament, Dane Webb, fell to East Carolina’s Joran Vliegen in the first round 6-2, 6-4.
