NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma wrestler Andrew Howe claimed a victory at the 2013 NWCA All-Star Classic on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., while Jarrod Patterson and Kendric Maple dropped their bouts in overtime.

In the 174 pound match, Howe defeated Matt Brown of Penn State, 4-3. The match, which pitted former Big Ten champions against one another for the first time, was tied 3-3, but Howe earned the riding time point. The NWCA All-Star Classic was Howe's first appearance as a Sooner after transferring from Wisconsin and redshirting last season.

Maple faced Ohio State's Logan Stieber in the 149 pound bout, which was the last match of the evening. Stieber claimed a 6-4 decision in overtime. In 2013, both wrestlers had nearly identical seasons where they were among six wrestlers to go undefeated and both won NCAA Championships.

In his second appearance in the event, Patterson dropped a 6-1 decision in overtime in the 125 pound match to Nahshon Garrett of Cornell University.
