NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma rowing racked up multiple top finishes at the Head of the Hooch, including a second-place finish by the varsity eight on Saturday in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Racing in a field of 28 in the championship eight race, the Sooners finished in 16:17.6 to take the silver medal. The varsity eight finished just behind Miami (FL) and ahead of Texas and Tennessee, among others.

The Sooners' second varsity eight boat finished ninth in a time of 16:45.3, making OU the only team in the championship eight with two boats finishing in the top 10.

In the championship four competition, Oklahoma boats finished in fifth and 11th place, respectively among 31 competitors. The varsity four placed fifth with a time of 18:02.4 while the second varsity four crossed the finish in 18:29.7.

In the novice eight race, OU's top boat finished in seventh with a time of 17:51.8. The second novice eight placed 17th in 19:32.4.

On Sunday, OU will also participate in the open pair race, competing with four boats (two varsity and two novice) at 11:35 a.m. ET. Women's open eight with four boats will begin at 12:08 p.m. ET.

Oklahoma will finish the fall season in two weeks on Nov. 17 at the Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va.
