Halloween Game and Fundraiser a Success
October 28, 2013

NORMAN, Okla. - The first ALS Awareness Halloween game hosted by the Oklahoma baseball team on October 24 was a huge success. The Sooners played an intra-squad scrimmage in front of a crowd estimated between 500 and 600 fans that came out to L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Replay and highlights of the game will be aired Wednesday at 11:00 pm on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox College Sports then again on Thursday at 9:00 pm on FSOK.

Fans had an opportunity to meet and interact with the 2014 Sooners as well as new head coach Pete Hughes. During the game, student-athletes patrolled the stands, handing out candy to children in attendance who joined the team by coming to the stadium in costume.

“I couldn’t be happier with the fan turnout from Thursday night’s game, having them come out and be a part of program for a night,” said Hughes. “I think including the community as a part of our team is something that will pay dividends and increase the quality of our program in the future. It was also great to get everyone involved in raising money and awareness for a cause that we’re very close to.”

Oklahoma's players were on the field in costume and entertained the fans with a fun game featuring players in costumes ranging from superheroes to cartoon characters and rock stars.

The final tally of funds raised to help "Strikeout ALS" have yet to be released.
