FORT WORTH, Texas - Led by senior middle blocker Sallie McLaurin's (Midwest City, Okla.) 23 kills, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team came away with a 3-2 win at TCU on Wednesday night. The win propelled the Sooners to 17-4 overall and 5-2 in the Big 12, while the Horned Frogs dropped to 13-8 and 2-5.
The two teams traded sets with Oklahoma ultimately taking the win; 25-16, 17-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9.
McLaurin led all players in kills, while hitting .537, marking the seventh time this season she has hit .500 or better. Defensively, she added a team-high six blocks.
Sophomore outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) finished second on the team with 17 kills.
For TCU, Ashley Smith led the way with 17, followed by Yvonne Igodan at 12 and Natalie Gower at 11. Igodan hit a team-best .346 in the loss, while Gower posted a match-leading eight kills.
Senior libero Taylor Migliazzo (Kansas City, Mo.) posted a team-high 25 digs for the Sooners. The Horned Frogs' libero, Shane Peters, led all players with 27. Senior defensive specialist Eden Williams (Amarillo, Texas) added 11 in the winning effort for OU.
Sophomore setter Julia Doyle (Plymouth, Minn.) paced the Sooner attack with 50 assists, eclipsing the 50-assist mark for the third time this season and second time in three matches.
Oklahoma returns to action Saturday morning against West Virginia at 11:00 am. Admission is free.
