NORMAN, Okla. -- Aug. 31 marked the home opener for the Oklahoma football team, and while the matchup against the Warhawks of ULM gave the Sooner faithful a chance to reconvene and celebrate their love of the Crimson and Cream, halftime of the contest enabled the crowd of nearly 85,000 to recgonize the the 2013 national champion Oklahoma softball team.
Just under three months removed from winning the program's second national title, members of the 2013 Sooners were honored with a midfield ceremony during halftime of the 34-0 victory over ULM. After a short highlight video was shown on the video board, the Sooners, who were wearing the "HOME" shirts in support of the tornado disaster relief efforts, were greeted with a rousing ovation from those in attendance.
The Sooners went 57-4 on the season and were a perfect 10-0 in the NCAA tournament, outscoring their opponents, 91-16. Facing Tennessee in the championship series, OU claimed a dramatic game one victory with a 5-3, 12-inning come-from-behind win. In game two, Michelle Gascoigne struck out 12 while Keilani Ricketts drove in all the runs in a 4-0 victory.
