Phil O'Neill - Director of Spirit Squads

Phil arrives at the University of Oklahoma after a 21 year stint at Villanova University where he served as the Cheerleading Coordinator and Head Coach for 13 years.  While at Villanova, Phil gained valuable student life experience as the Assistant Director of Student Development for Fraternity and Sorority Life.  In addition to these two roles, Phil also served as an adjunct faculty member in the Leadership Learning and Service Learning Communities.   In addition to serving as a UCA Staff Member, he has been teaching with Varsity University, the professional development arm of Varsity Spirit Corp and has been a safety certifier for the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators for the past seven years. Phil has both of his degrees from Villanova including a dual major BA in Political Science and Communication Arts as well as an MBA.  He has coached competitively at the collegiate and high school level and for 11 years in the all-star realm as owner and partner in Liberty Cheer Institute.

Miranda Noel – Cheerleading Coach

Coach Noel is a native of southern Ohio and graduated with a chemistry degree from Morehead State University where she was a four-time Division I UCA national champion and former member of Team USA. She has been A Varsity Brands Instructor for the past 11 years, 8 of which she served on core and college staff. Prior to arriving at OU, Miranda had coaching stops at Washington State University and the University of Memphis.

Taylor Burget – Head Pom Coach

Taylor Treat Burget is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Human Relations. While at the University, she was a four year member of the OU Pom team and was named Captain her senior year. Being in the program she was allowed the opportunity to cheer three Big XII Championships, two Fiesta Bowls, and a National Championship, for OU Football; for Men's and Women's Basketball, she was able to cheer sweet sixteens, elite eights, and a final four . In June of 2009, she was crowned Miss Oklahoma. She went on to represent Oklahoma at the 89th Miss America competition where she placed in the top 12 and became Oklahoma's first to walk away with the Quality of Life award. In the spring of 2011, she completed another degree in Pilates from Balanced Body University to help her students become stronger and healthier dancers. She is going into her 10th year of teaching dance, and choreography, and her 5th year of coaching pom. Aside from dance and pom, Taylor is the Director of Flip Nation Marketing Firm. Taylor and her husband, Brian, are both proud Sooner Alumni and love attending all OU athletic events!

Bobby Nash – RUF/NEKS & Lil Sis Advisor

Bobby graduated from University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science in 2014 and an M.Ed. in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration in 2016. As a student at OU, Bobby was a four-year member of the Oklahoma RUF/NEKS, during which time he served as president of the organization and driver of the Sooner Schooner.  Bobby joined the Athletic Department in 2014 as a Graduate Assistant in Marketing before taking on the role of Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Experience in 2015. Currently, Bobby serves as the Director of Community Relations where he oversees the Sooner Jr. program, mobile marketing, and community outreach initiatives

Peggy Whaley - Athletic Camps Coordinator

Peggy Whaley, Athletic Camps Coordinator, oversees the summer Spirit Camps for University and other clinics and competitions. Peggy just finished her 24th year of managing the summer camps for the American Cheerleaders Association, National Cheerleaders Association, National Dance Alliance, Universal Cheerleaders Association, and Universal Dance Association. Peggy was the cheer coach for OU from 1995-1998. Peggy holds a BS in Business Administration and a MS in Education. She is married to Mike and they have a daughter, Mary Beth, and granddaughter, Avereigh.
