Dane Moreland is in his third year with the University of Oklahoma track and field program and his first as an assistant coach for the men's distance group.

Prior to being named an assistant, Moreland was the program's director of operations where he oversaw administrative duties, student-athlete relations, event planning and travel.

Moreland joined the staff in January of 2009 as a volunteer coach before transitioning into his current role, serving as the Meet Technical Director at the 2009 NCAA Midwest Regional in Norman in the process.

Moreland assisted the Oklahoma men's cross country program to one of its finest seasons in the fall of 2009 as the Sooner men finished third in the Big 12 Championships and advanced to the NCAA Championships where they took 12th.

Moreland joined the Sooners after serving two years at West Virginia University as a graduate intern coach. While at West Virginia, Moreland assisted in all aspects of the program including on-campus recruiting, practice and meet planning, travel planning and monitoring student-athletes' academic progress as well as enforcing that the program complied with NCAA rules and regulations.

Moreland was part of a Mountaineer staff that helped lead the women's cross country program to a fourth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Cross Country Championships and a ninth-place finish in the 2007 event.

During that time, the Mountaineers also had four NCAA All-Americans as Marie-Louise Asselin and Keri Bland earned the honor both years.

The 2007 West Virginia cross country staff was honored by the Big East Conference as its staff of the year.

As an athlete, Moreland competed at Minnesota State University-Moorhead where he was a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champion on five occasions and garnered 18 NSIC All-Conference honors during his career.
