NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team ended play in seventh place at the Big 12 Invitational at Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla. The Sooners fired the low round of the day with a 309. Oklahoma State captured the tournament title, followed by Ohio State. Stacy Prammanasudh of Tulsa claimed the individual title with a three-under score of 213.
Junior Allison Johnson ended tournament play with a seventh place finish and a score of 228. Sophomore Lisa Meldrum trailed Johnson by one stroke in 10th place. Senior Jennifer Tannehill carded a 249 to tie for 48th, while fellow senior Jennifer James placed 61st with a score of 252. Senior Wendy Martin shot a 255 for 67th place.
"Obviously I am pleased with the last round score, which was the best score by seven shots," said Head Coach Carol Ludvigson. "We even lost a couple of shots by the end of that round. The first round was rough because we weren't used to the five-man format and that got us behind on our rhythm. I'm very proud of Wendy for coming back in the fashion that she did on this course, that was spectacular. This was a tough tournament and I'm sure that we will be ready for the next one."
The next outing for the Sooners will be Oct. 8-10 in the NMSU Invitational at the University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
