NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team will compete in the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational on Oct. 15-16 in Lawrence, Kan. The tournament will be played at the 5,800-yard, par-72 Alvamar Golf Club University Golf Course. The two-day event will be formatted with 36 holes on the first day and 18 holes on the final day. Both days will begin with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. Competing for the Sooners will be Hope Edge, Allison Johnson, Lisa Meldrum and Emily Milberger with the fifth player to be determined.
Sooners Claim Third Place at NMSU Intercollegiate
The Oklahoma women's golf team recorded their best finish of the season at the NMSU Intercollegiate. The Sooners were paced by sophomore Lisa Meldrum, who recorded a second place finish. Meldrum recorded a 213 off three solid rounds of 71. Junior Allison Johnson and freshman Emily Milberger tied for 12th with scores of 223. Sophomore Hope Edge placed 15th by carding a score of 224, while senior Jennifer Tannehill shot a 226 for 23rd place. Senior Marsha Gonzaga placed 77th with a score of 258.

Emily Milberger: Made an impact last week in her first tournament with a score of 223 to tie with Allison Johnson for 12th place ... Kansas state champion in 2000 and runner-up 1999 ... Selected to the All-Sun and all-metro teams (two years).
" I think that this will be a good tournament. The golf course is awesome. The layout is long and tight and that should be good for our team to make some putts. I'm really excited, because I want to take away a team or individual win. I think that this tournament will be a good shot in the arm for our team heading into the tournament in Alabama."
