All-American: Cedric Jones

Rufus Alexander

Cedric Jones, DE - 1995
If ever a team had the luxury of counting on one player to chase a quarterback all day, it was Oklahoma when Cedric Jones was in a Sooner uniform.

One coach said that with Jones on the field, "there was no need for special blitz packages because he would take care of rushing the quarterback."

Indeed, Jones posted the numbers to back up the raves. He set a school sacks record with 14 for 85 yards in losses in 1994. He concluded his career with OU career records for sacks (31.5) and tackles for loss (46.5). His sacks went for 199 yards in losses, while his tackles for loss amounted to 256.

He was a first-round draft pick (No. 5 overall) by the New York Giants in the 1996 NFL draft.
