NFL DraftNORMAN, Okla. -- Representatives from NFL franchises were in Norman Wednesday morning for OU's annual Pro Day inside the Everest Training Center. SoonerSports.com webcast the event live with a mic on strength coach Jerry Schmidt.

Aside from the physical testing, scouts put the players through several position drills. Below are the results from OU's Pro Day testing. If a player's results are not included in a specific drill's listing, this means they did not take part.

The 2012 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 26-28 in New York City. SoonerSports.com will have full coverage throughout the event as Sooners are selected.

Oklahoma ranks No. 4 all-time in total number of players drafted. OU has supplied 350 players since 1937. Forty-two of those players were taken in the first round including three overall No. 1 picks (Bradford, Sims, Selmon). With Sam Bradford No. 1, Gerald McCoy No. 3 and Trent Williams No. 4 in 2010, Oklahoma became the first school ever to supply three of the first four NFL Draft picks.

NORMAN, Okla. -- James Winchester had exactly seven tackles in his career at OU. Not exactly the kind of thing that puts a player on an NFL watch list.

So, it's pretty obvious Wednesday was a big opportunity for the former Sooner deep snapper and special teams player to get his name out there.

"The best part was being an underdog," Winchester said. "There was zero pressure, and I was confident and knew exactly what I could do."

What Winchester did was impress.

Wednesday was OU's Pro Day as a number of Sooners and former Sooners got to work out in front of scouts from 26 NFL teams.

And Wednesday was an opportunity seized for the often overlooked Winchester, who could do a number of things at the next level - whether that's a receiver or deep snapping.

"All I got in college was some long snapping," he said. "I didn't really get a chance to show what I can do. Today was a great opportunity. I know I didn't get a lot of attention in college, so I wanted today to be the day to show everyone how I have improved."

How'd he look? Winchester worked out among the receivers and he tested well individually.

His broad jump of 11 feet, 5.5 inches was more than a foot longer than anyone else. His vertical jump of 38 inches was the highest on Wednesday and his 40-yard dash time of 4.58 was the fastest of the 12 Sooners who who ran.

Not bad for a 6-foot-3, 200-pound deep snapper few really know about.

"Ever since the season was over, I've been training for this day," he said. "I had this day circled on my calendar. I was just really excited and happy to be here and it's been a lot of fun. I'd say it's coming together pretty good."

And while Winchester said he never thought he'd be in the position to get drafted, he was content that maybe Wednesday's performance might turn a few heads.

"It's all abut the opportunity," Winchester said. "To have a chance to go to the next level is great. Today there was nothing for me to lose and everything to gain. Hopefully, I'll get that chance at the next level."
