NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma wrestling team improved to 16-4 on the season with a 33-12 victory over Nebraska Friday evening in Lincoln. The Sooners, ranked sixth in the latest Intermat poll, were spearheaded by three pins (No. 7/4 Jared Frayer, No. 10/8 Robbie Waller and No. 7/8 Josh Lambrecht) and improved to 3-1 in the Big 12 while Nebraska fell to 8-7 and 0-1 in the conference.

OU put the match away early, scoring the first 13 points. No. 3/3 Witt Durden's major decision and Frayer's fall helped the Sooners take a commanding lead. Frayer's pin was his team-leading 12th of the year and 46th of his career (fifth-best all-time).

The teams exchanged pins (top-ranked Bryan Snyer of Nebraska at 157 and Waller at 165) before Nebraska cut the lead to 10 with Tony Denke's upset decision over No. 14/15 Michael Barger.

However, Oklahoma regained command with Lambrecht's fall and Leonce Crump's technical fall at heavyweight.

Bo Maynes continued to shine in the absence of Matt Ridings. At 125, Maynes knocked off another ranked opponent with his 3-2 sudden victory over No. 6 Jason Powell. Maynes is 18-3 on the year and has won eight straight matches.

The Sooners host Oklahoma State in the second of two annual Bedlam wrestling matches on Sunday, February 17, at 3 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center.
