NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma wrestling team won its first dual of the season with a convincing 39-7 victory over Central Oklahoma, Tuesday, in front of 793 fans at the Howard McCasland Field House. OU was in total control of the match, highlighted by four falls.

Matt Ridings, ranked No. 8/6, got OU to a rousing start with a pin against the Bronchos' Weston Moore at 4:52 and stayed unbeaten (8-0). Second-ranked Witt Durden remained undefeated as well (8-0) with an 8-2 decision over Cole Province.

Central Oklahoma got on board at 141 with Matt Dodgen's 10-4 decision NR/No. 17 senior Melvin Lofton but the Sooners anwered when top-ranked Jared Frayer pinned Michael Barreras in the 149-pound match at 2:23. The pin was Frayer's 38 for his career, tying him for fourth-place all-time in OU history.

Doug Cieleski (NR/#11), at 157, scored an 8-3 decision over Nathan Gomex then No. 6/5 Robbie Waller, in his first match this season, won by an injury default over Shawn Silvis just 14 seconds in the match.

The Sooners continued to reel off points with pins coming at 174 (No. 7/8 Michael Barger over Dennis Parker, 4:32) and 184 (No. 4/3 Josh Lambrecht over Jeff Henning, 1:27). Lambrecht's pin kept him undefeated at 7-0.

Josh Ferguson fell to Muhammed Lawal via a technical fall, 22-7, at 197 before Leonce Crump (No. 4/3) closed out the match with 9-2 decision over Ray Rice.

"We have a definite advantage starting at 125 with Matt (Ridings), said Oklahoma Head Coach Jack Spates. "He really sets the tone of the match when he's the first one to wrestle. We've worked hard on our pins recently and to register this many against a quality opponent like UCO is very impressive."

The Sooners host the Oklahoma Open Saturday at the Lloyd Noble Center. The college division of the open tournament will feature Air Force, Balcone, Central Oklahoma, Kennedy King, Missouri and Oklahoma State.
