NORMAN, Okla. – Former University of Oklahoma women’s golfers Lisa Meldrum and Isabelle Beisiegel advanced to Monday’s final round of LPGA Qualifying School in Daytona Beach, Fla. Recent OU graduate Kendall Dye was cut after 72 holes of action at the LPGA’s Legends and Champions Courses.
The third and fourth rounds were played on Sunday after heavy rains caused unplayable conditions on Saturday.
Meldrum, who competed at OU from 2000 to 2004, continued her strong play and remains near the top of the leaderboard. She carded a 75 (+3) in the third round and then fired a 4-under 68 in the fourth round. Meldrum, the 2009 Duramed FUTURES Tour iMPACT Classic winner, heads into the final round in a tie for fourth place.
Beisiegel, who was a Sooner from 1996 to 2000, fired a 5-under 67 in the third round, the lowest of the 103 competitors for that round. She then recorded a 1-over 73 in the fourth round to put her in a tie for 36th place.
Dye shot a 1-under 71 in the third round, her best of performance of the tournament, but followed it with a fourth-round 79 (+7). Dye, who was named to the All-Big 12 Team in 2008 and 2009, failed to make the cut (top 70) for Monday’s final round.
Meldrum and Beisiegel will compete Monday at the 6,468-yard, par-72 Champions Course. Priority status for the 2010 LPGA Tour will be granted to the top-20 finishers.
