NORMAN, Okla.– The 35th-ranked University of Oklahoma women’s tennis team faces a road match with Rice Sunday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m., before starting Big 12 play.
Oklahoma (5-5) is coming off a 5-2 win over Iowa and a 4-3 loss to TCU last weekend. The loss to TCU was the Sooners’ first home loss this season.
Rice (6-3) enters Sunday’s match after its 5-2 loss to Texas A&M on Friday. The Owls are 3-0 at home this season, with wins over Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette and McNeese State.
Leading the way for the Sooners is Whitney Ritchie. Ritchie holds the team-best record in both singles and doubles.
Ritchie and senior Marie-Pier Huet are 8-2 overall in doubles and are currently ranked No. 30 in the country in doubles.
Ritchie and fellow sophomore Mia Lancaster both boast 7-3 records in singles this season to lead the team.
The Sooners return home next Saturday, March 3 for their Big 12 opener against Oklahoma State at noon.
