Oklahoma Women's Basketball
Post Game QUOTES
OU 79, Sam Houston State 52
November 26, 2002
OU Head Coach Sherri Coale
On the game:
"It was a good win. Erica has them (Sam Houston) playing hard. They played hard the entire game. They really compete and don't go away. That's going to give them a chance to win a lot of games. I thought we passed very well and it was our best performance in transition by far. We really pushed the issue, not only on deflections and steals, but off rebounds and made shots."
On OU's injuries:
"I thought the team handled it extremely well. It's such a difficult thing. It's just one of those deals-where you question, is this for real? When and where does this happen twice in one day. It is beyond a fluke. It is beyond strange. You've got to look at this and say there's a reason. We will find it (the reason) and turn it into something good. I firmly believe we have a shot of being a great story come early spring."
On Maria Villarroel:
" Maria was just fantastic. She has an uncanny way of both delivering and catching the basketball. She has great hands and stays patient and poised. She really helped out when our team was facing adversity. It wasn't just scoring. Defensively she was rebounding and blocking out."
On the game:
"I was more focused on what I was supposed to do. I have great teammates that can get me the ball. I'm getting better on knowing the offensive plays and on my defense. I've been jumping to the ball, like Coach Coale tells me to do everyday in practice."
Dionnah Jackson: On losing Caton Hill to an ACL injury: "We saw Caton go down but we had to go on with the next play. You do what you have to do and worry about it after the game. We let our trainer, Wendee Lentz, handle that situation at that time."
