OU Men's Golfers Begin Season In Tennesee This Weekend

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team opens its 2001-02 season this weekend (Sept. 8-9) at The Ridges Intercollegiate in Johnson City, Tenn. OU is hoping to build upon the successes of last season that saw the Sooners tie for first at the NCAA Central Regional and tie for 12th at the NCAA Championship. It was their best finish at nationals since 1992.

Sooner Golfers in the Rankings
OU is currently 16th in this week's Golfweek collegiate rankings. Individually, senior Cody Freeman (Arnett, Okla.) begins the season ranked 79th, junior Matt Cohn (La Jolla, Calif.) is 83rd and sophomore Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) is 102nd. The Mastercard, Golfstat and Golfworld rankings will be released in the coming weeks.
