Head Coach Kelvin Sampson

Playing with an injured Hollis Price.

" It says a lot about our team. We have a lot of good players. Quannas White was our best player tonight."

On the game

"We were a little tenative against the zone tonight. What we can do is get the ball inside to Bookout. If they double up on him we can kick it out. That's what we want. We attacked the zone better in the second half. Credit Cal. Shipp and Wethers are both terrific players. Gilbert and Brown did a great job on Tamir. Wethers and Shipp hit some hard shots. Our team hung in there without our best player."

On Kevin Bookout

"The more teams play behind him, the more opportunities he has. He leads the league in field goal percentage. We talked about at the half getting him more touches."

On De'Angelo Alexander

"De'Angelo is a good basketball player. He's not the most athletic guy on the court, but he's got a high IQ and is a good ball player. Look at his stat line. We need someone who can be solid. It helped his confidence when we began starting him. It gave him a sense of belonging."

Quannas White
"Kevin came out with a lot of confidence today. He played like he was a junior or sophomore. He didn't play like he was a freshman. That's what we need out of him, leading the team for us to be good."

About knee injury

"I just bumped knees with one of the Cal players. I just came out of the game and put some ice on it but it is feeling alright. I just bumped knees with a guy as I was going for a rebound."

Hollis Price

"I wasn't as aggressive as I was in the past few games, basically because of the movement. I wasn't able to move all that well. I tried to do other things and tried to get the ball inside to Kevin. He did a good job on the boards, too. That helped us out a lot. He did a good job running the floor. We found him and I just wanted to do the little things."

On the crowd

"We are in Oklahoma City. We're excited about the crowd. The fans are great. We couldn't ask for anything else. They did a great job last week in Dallas. They did a good job this year and we really appreciate what they did for us these last two games."

"We wanted to outrebound those guys. It goes back to September. We do loose ball drills and that is what our program is about, outhustling other teams. That is what we did today."

OU Locker Room Quotes:

F Kevin Bookout:

"We didn't want this to be Hollis' (Price) last game. I felt better last night (after a bout with a stromach virus), and I was a lot better today. We just hit the open shots, and it felt good to get open under the basket. Any time you get those transition baskets, it really helps the offense. We'll try to keep it going in Albany and keep the careers going for our seniors. This team has worked hard to get to this point, and we're ready to go to the Sweet 16."

G De'Angelo Alexander

"I get some jitters before these big games, and I leave them at the hotel (laughing). Once the ball is tipped, I get a lot better. Give the credit to our seniors. They make you grit your teeth and get after the other team on defense. They really get after it. The whole team had to step it up after Hollis was hurt, and just to get him (Hollis) back out there is a boost to the whole team. He's an inspiration, and when he plays, it helps our two freshmen to get into the flow of the game."
