NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma senior Samantha Ricketts went 4-for-5 on Saturday with two runs driven in but it was the last one that made all the difference. Ricketts' single up the middle in the bottom of the eighth inning scored sophomore Haley Anderson and gave OU a 3-2 win over Nebraska at the OU Softball Complex. The 12th-ranked Sooners (29-11, 6-3 Big 12) responded twice to tie the game against the Huskers (25-9, 2-3 Big 12).

Oklahoma never led until the final run crossed the plate. As a team, OU hit .444 on the day with two outs. Despite leaving 13 runners on base, OU scored all three runs with two down. Ricketts led the charge with two doubles and scoring a run during her all-star outing. Junior Lindsey Vandever did not register a single official at-bat, drawing three walks on the day. Freshman Karolyne Long extended her hitting streak to seven games, going 1-for-2 and pulling two walks. Freshman Katie Norris' lone hit was her third double of the season.

The Huskers scored the game's first run in the top of the third when Meghan Mullin walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. Crystal Carwile was then hit by a pitch to give NU two aboard with just one out. After a double steal put runners in scoring position, Brittany Pascale singled through the left side to score Mullin.

The Sooners responded in the bottom half of the inning. Junior Amber Flores was hit by a pitch with two outs and Ricketts tallied her first double of the afternoon, a shot to right center to score Flores. Vandever walked but Ricketts was picked off at second to end the frame.

Nebraska added the go-ahead run in the fifth. Mullin led off with a walk and Darcy Rutherford's bunt put two runners on. After the two moved over on a wild pitch, Mullin scored on Amanda Duran's sacrifice bunt. After Pascale and Julie Brechtel were issued back-to-back walks to load the bases, pinch hitter Kelli Linke lined out to right field to end the inning.

Ricketts worked magic again in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs, Ricketts doubled to right center again and back-to-back walks by Vandever and Norris loaded the bases for the Sooners. Long drew an RBI walk on four straight pitches to score Ricketts and tie the game.

After neither team put a run on the board in the sixth nor seventh, the game went to the eighth notched at 2-all. The Huskers went down in order in the top of the eighth. Sophomore Dani Dobbs led off the inning with a four-pitch walk and Anderson reached on a fielder's choice. After Anderson moved to second on a ground out, Flores was intentionally walked to put two runners on base with two outs. Ricketts then singled up the middle, just out of the reach of shortstop Whitney Barrett, to score Anderson and give OU the 3-2 win.

Rutherford led the Huskers with a 3-for-4 day. Mullin, Duran and Pascale recorded a hit each for Nebraska. Mullin scored both Nebraska runs.

Sooner starter D.J. Mathis went 5.1 innings to register a no-decision. Mathis allowed both earned runs to cross the plate. She walked six and struck out five. Freshman Allee Allen moved to 13-2 on the year, picking up the win in 2.2 innings of work. Allen gave up two hits and fanned five.

Molly Hill (15-6) went six innings for Nebraska, allowing two earned runs, including the game-winner. Hill struck out one and walked five.

The two teams close out the series Sunday afternoon with a 1 p.m. contest on Fan Appreciation Day at the OU Softball Complex. The first 1,000 fans receive an OU collectible trading card set.
