NORMAN, Okla. -- Cassidy Nangle, an incoming freshman from Issaquah, Wa., signed a financial aid agreement and will enroll at the University of Oklahoma for the 2012 spring semester. Nangle, a three-time all-conference forward and four-year letterwinner from Liberty H.S., will join the Sooner soccer team for spring practice in preparation for the 2012 season.
Nangle started all four years at Liberty H.S. under head coach Jamie Giger and scored 39 goals with 12 assists in her prep career. She is also a member of the Washington Olympic Development program (2007-2011), played on the Region IV Team in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and was in the U.S. National pool in 2008 and 2009.
"I chose OU because it is a top leading school, academically, with a nationally recognized athletic program," said Nangle. "From the girls on the team, to the community, and the Crimson and Cream spirit, it was the perfect fit for me."
In 2011, Nangle was named to the Seattle Times all-area team as she led Liberty H.S. with 16 goals in 18 games as a senior. Nangle also tallied six assists in her final prep season, leading Liberty to the state finals with an 18-2 record. Liberty was also a state qualifier in 2010 and won its conference championship in Nangle's final two seasons.
On the club level, Nangle plays for Eastside F.C. under head coach Michelle French. The team was a Washington State Championship finalist in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and won the Las Vegas Showcase Championship in 2010 and the Surf College Cup Championship in 2009.
Nangle also lettered in track at Liberty H.S. She was named a Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) scholar athlete in 2009 and was a member of the National Junior Honor Society in 2008.
