NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's golf team remains in seventh place after the second round of play at the par-72, 6,000-yard Coco Beach Golf Course.  The Sooners shot a team score of 294 (+6), improving five strokes from their opening round at the 17-team Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

OU is 17 strokes behind tournament leader Auburn with a two-round total of 593 (+17).

True freshman Chelsey Collins leads the Sooners after firing a second-round 4-under par 68.  In her first collegiate appearence, Collins is in a tie for fifth place, four strokes behind leaders Pernilla Lindberg of Oklahoma State and Mariana Macias of Auburn.

"Chelsey played solid and had such maturity," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "She handled the pressure extremely well and played fantastic today. Having Chelsey and Heather in the lineup is really helping our team."

Junior Kelly Jacques is in a tie for 16th after carding a 74 (+2) and shortly behind is junior Heather Wright in 19th place with a second-round 72 (E). Senior Megan Goodwin and junior Kendall Dye are each in a tie for 51st shooting 80  and 81, respectively.

Dye is competing as an individual. Senior Jaclyn Stelzer fired a second-round 81 and sits in a tie for 74th at 163 (+19).

"We are excited about how we've continued to play well," Ludvigson said.  "We are one shot behind Georgia, the No. 1-ranked team in the nation right now. We're ready for tomorrow and hope to improve to a top-five position."

The Sooners return to the links for the final round Sunday at 9 a.m.
