PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Oklahoma junior Riley Masters was the top collegiate finisher in the men’s 1,500-meter open run at the Portland Track Festival at Lewis and Clark College Saturday evening. Masters ran 3 minutes, 40.90 seconds in a tune-up prior to the U.S. Olympic Trials later this month.
John Mickowski representing the U.S. Army won the event in 3:40.60, while OTC’s Evan Jager was second in 3:40.72.
Masters broke his own school record in the event on May 18 at the USATF Oxy High Performance Meet with a time of 3:37.19. Masters was also the top collegiate finisher in that race that featured several high-caliber professional athletes, including several 2012 Olympic hopefuls.
The 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials are set for June 22-July 1 in Eugene, Ore.
