NORMAN, Okla. - Almost mirroring the league's coaches poll released two weeks ago, the Big 12's preseason men's basketball media poll came out today and Oklahoma is again picked to finish second behind Kansas. The Jayhawks garnered 16 first-place votes and 310 total points while the Sooners collected 10 first-place votes and 302 points. Texas is picked to finish third and is followed by Missouri, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Colorado, Baylor, Nebraska, Kansas State and Texas A&M.

OU senior guard Hollis Price is one of five players on the media preseason All-Big 12 Team and was also named the preseason player of the year. The 6-1, 170-pounder was also named the preseason player of the year by conference coaches on Oct. 23. Price averaged 16.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game last year for the 31-5 Sooners. He also shot .382 from three-point territory and .838 from the free throw line. Price was a first-team All-Big 12 selection last season before earning Big 12 Tournament and NCAA West Regional MVP honors. The New Orleans native was also a third-team All-American by The Sporting News.

Senior guard Ebi Ere and junior center Jabahri Brown were among eight players who received preseason All-Big 12 votes. OU freshman forward Kevin Bookout finished second behind Texas A&M's Antoine Wright in preseason freshman-of-the-year balloting. Oklahoma freshman guard De'Angelo Alexander also received votes.

Oklahoma plays its first exhibition game this Saturday against Global Sports at 7 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners begin their regular season Thursday, Nov. 14 against reigning SEC champ Alabama at 8:15 p.m. (CST) inside New York's Madison Square Garden.
