OU Goes 9-3 on Day Two of Wildcat Invite

NORMAN, Okla. – OU women’s tennis played two rounds of singles Saturday at the 2011 Wildcat Invitational at Northwestern University.

The Sooners went a combined 9-3 on the day over three different singles draws.

Marie-Pier Huet, Nicole Long and Whitney Ritchie each won two matches Saturday, while Mia Lancaster, Peta Maree Lancaster and Whitney Wofford all went 1-1.

Long remains undefeated in singles play this fall season.  The freshman is a combined 6-0 in singles and 4-2 in doubles as a Sooner.  Long topped WMU’s Remynse, 6-3, 6-3, and Minnesota’s Magdalena Wiecha, 6-0, 7-5, on day two of the Wildcat Invite.

Huet improved to 5-1 in singles play this fall with a win over Minnesota’s Palen and South Carolina’s Popova Saturday. 

Ritchie picked up two wins on day two.  The sophomore defeated Sujahvili of WMU, 7-5, 6-3, and Illinois’ Lambropoulous, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.

The Wildcat Invitational concludes Sunday with the remaining singles matches starting at 9 a.m.
