Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
• Opening statement:
“I was really, really proud of our basketball team today.  I thought we competed on every possession, our balance became evident.  I thought our fans were great.  It was a good 40 minutes of highly entertaining basketball.  I thought we played very well together.”

• On adapting to the physical aspect of this game:
“I think we have put together a squad that can adapt to whatever situation presents itself.  I thought we handled ourselves well tonight.  We would obviously like to shoot a little better from the free throw line, but overall our field goal percentage was outstanding.  In a game that is physical in nature like today was, to be able to shoot that percentage from the field is pretty impressive.”

• On Texas’ offense:
“Texas is an excellent offensive rebounding team in particular.  Their guards really fly around and go after.  [Kathleen] Nash has really hurt us with the offensive board.  She and Whitney [Hand] are similar in that they have that knack for the ball; they just kind of snip it out as offensive rebounders.  We felt like it was important to keep her off the glass.  I felt like we did a really good job of that.  I’m sure when I go back and watch film I’m going to see a lot of missed block-outs.  But right now, typically I come in after a game and I remember three or four just blatant missed block-outs where we blew our assignments and they made us pay for it.  I don’t really remember any of those right now.”

• On the upcoming game against Baylor on Wednesday:
“Well welcome to the Big 12, that’s what everything is.  You don’t get to celebrate this game.  You turn around and you’re already talking about the next one.  The Big 12 South in particular is just brutal.  You look around and you have steal  a few on the road and, on Wednesday, we need a steal.”

Oklahoma Senior Center Courtney Paris
• On her ability to rebound:
“As far as rebounds, especially the offensive ones. I am playing with better kids now and people that you have to guard and that means when a shot goes up, someone is contesting that. Also I have single coverage on rebounds too, so that makes it easier to grabs boards.”

• On if the game was easy for her:
“No, I just think I just felt good today and it was a big game for us. Texas is a great team, so that is easy to get pumped up for, too. But I just wanted to establish myself early and late in the game -- just sets screens for Nyeshia Stevenson and Danielle Robinson so they can get to the basket.”

 • On if she likes taller players defending her:
“Yes, maybe you can feel them a little bit better when you are making you’re move trying to go up. If you are playing bigger people there is more single coverage ,too.”

Oklahoma Sophomore Guard Danielle Robinson
• On pushing the lead to 20 points:
“We had the lead but it wasn’t big enough. I remember the game last year when we had a double-digit lead and they came back. We just wanted to make it secure. We know we had to make stops and if we just made stops, we would get the ball in transition. We got a lot of good looks out of Ashley Paris and Nyeshia Stevenson. We just out-ran them.”

• On her free throw improvement from her freshman season:
“It feels pretty good. I guess last year I didn’t shoot particularly well as I wanted to. I was shooting about 68 percent last year and I shot about 80 percent in high school. So, I kind of made that a focus this year and that is what i have pretty much been working on. I was really disappointed I missed that free throw but I made up for it.”

Texas Head Coach Gail Goestenkors
• On the game:
“Congratulations to Oklahoma, I thought they played a terrific game.  They shared the ball well.  In the first half they had their inside game going and then in the second half they had their outside game going.  It’s really difficult when you’re playing a great team and they have both their inside and their outside attack going.  It’s difficult to defend.  Clearly they did a tremendous job on the boards, they kicked our tail on the boards.  I give them a lot of credit, I thought they played an exceptional game.”

• On the difference of Oklahoma’s team from last year to this year:
“I think Whitney Hand makes a big difference.  I think everybody has improved and I think they have the ability now to spread the floor.  Last year we could really  sag in on them, and this year it is much more difficult because they have more shooters out there.  I think they share the ball much more.  I think last year they needed both Courtney (Paris) and Ashley (Paris) to score to be successful.  Now they have so many options and so many weapons, I just think there is better balance this year.”

“Like I said, they return four starters and then you add Whitney Hand.  All of their starters improved, everybody, look at Ashley.  They have all improved and then you add Whitney, who is a great addition.  Whitney doesn’t play like a freshman.  I think they have much more confidence than I’ve ever seen them really.  In the last couple weeks, watching them play I think they are really gaining momentum.”

• On Danielle Robinson:
“She was a great player last year but she has really improved so much of her game.  She makes great decisions and she finds her open teammates.  She has a really good feel of when to push and when to pull back and execute and when she needs to get the ball inside and when she needs to take it herself.  Her decision making is exceptional.  I really don’t think she gets enough credit for her defense, she is one of the best defensive players in the conference.  I think she had improved tremendously.”

Texas Senior Forward Ashley Lindsey
• On defending Courtney Paris:
“In the first half, she got her points.  It is hard to guard her when she is in the zone.  We have to be able to stop that and stop the guards from lobbing it to her.”

Texas Senior Guard Carla Cortijo
• On OU’s defense and Danielle Robinson:
“She is quick, she has long arms and quick hands.  She did a great job on me and putting pressure on me and trying to make me turn the ball over.  She is a great player and I respect her.”
