DALLAS - The Oklahoma men's golf team used a final-round 16-under par this morning to vault into eighth place at the Taylor Made Red River Classic at the Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas, Texas. The score of 272 was the second-best round of the day but not enough to catch tournament winner Oklahoma State, which posted a -22 (266) for the last 18 holes.

"Our team showed real character today," noted OU Head Coach Gregg Grost. "After the way we played yesterday, it would have been easy for our guys to just come out and go through the motions. We are a young team and it's going to take time for our guys to feel comfortable out there, especially in events where records are being broken every round."

Individual medalist honors went to John Bloomfield of South Carolina who recorded a tournament-record 197 (-19). He edged Martin Maritz of Tulsa by two stokes after Maritz broke the tournament and Dallas Athletic Club course record with a 62.

OU's top finishers were sophomores J.D. Robertson and Cody Freeman. Robertson, who opened with a career-best 68, tied for 23rd overall with a seven-under par 209. Freeman tied for 28th overall after firing a career-best 66 in the final round today.
