NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics program has received a signed letter-of-intent from Jamie Henderson, a native of Crosby, Texas, and a member of the U.S. Junior National Team. He is scheduled to respresent the United States at the Canberra Cup, an international junior competition to be held in Canberra, Australia, on Dec. 1.
Henderson competes for the Houston Gymnastics Academy under the instruction of Kevin Mazeika and Rustim Sharapov. In the most recent U.S. Championships, Henderson placed second in the all-around competition at the Junior Elite Level.
"Jamie is an outstanding addition to the Sooner gymnastics family," said OU Head Coach Williams. "As one of the top junior gymnasts in the nation, I fully expect him to excel at the NCAA level. I'm looking forward to him making a tremendous impact on our team's success in the future."
Henderson joins Curtis O'Rorke of Moore, Okla., in this year's early-signing class for Oklahoma. O'Rorke is also a star at the junior level, competing for the Oklahoma Elite gymnastics club.
