NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma’s 53rd-ranked men’s tennis team (2-0) will take on regional opponent Oral Roberts (2-2) at the Tulsa Southern Tennis Club in Tulsa on Fri., Feb. 4. Action will begin at 6 p.m.
Since 2000, Oklahoma has dominated the Golden Eagles, winning all seven matches by a combined score of 42-5. The Sooners did not allow ORU to score a single point in both matches played last season.
Oklahoma will then move on to compete in a double header on Sunday, Feb. 6 in Edmond, Okla., inside the Oak Tree Country Club. OU will square off against Bradley at 9 a.m., followed by a 3:30 p.m. match against Cameron. Weather permitting, the Sooners will face Cameron at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. Admission to Sunday’s matches are free.
OU has never played Bradley and looks to start the series with a win. The Sooners swept Cameron last season 7-0 and defeated the Aggies, 6-1 in 2003. Prior to the past two years Oklahoma has not played Cameron since 1996.
After winning the first two matches of the season over Northwestern and DePaul, head coach Paul Lockwood and the Sooners look to continue their winning start to the season.
“We hope to continue the momentum we created with our first two wins in Chicago. The players are practicing hard and I feel we will be ready to compete on Friday and Sunday,” said Lockwood.
